Victory make it three out of three |
Victory overcame Loddon Vale this morning (Saturday) 83 - 61 in the latest round of Bramley matches, collecting six points in the process.
The win was built around the rink of Phil Penn who recorded a 23 shot victory over Phil Spreadbury. From the start the Penn rink always appeared to be in control. A 7 - 1 advantage at 5 ends had become 17 - 2 by the 11th end. Over the remaining 10 ends they collected a further 13 shots whilst conceeding 5 shots, to run out 30 - 7 at the end. Meanwhile on the adjoining rink at Victory the rink skipped by Dave Biggs opened up a 5 - 2 lead at the 5 end stage, but the next 5 ends saw them drop 8 shots without reply to trail 5 - 10 at 10 ends. That remained the difference for most of the remainder of the game before eventually losing. 15 -22.
At Lodden Vale both rinks trailed at the 5 end stage Adrian Ash 4 - 8 against Dougie Morgan and Alan Jones 4 - 6 to the rink skipped Hampshire LibertyTrophy player Marc Rivoira The next 5 ends saw conflicting results with Adrian Ash and his colleagues scoring 8 unanswered shots to lead 13 -8. Whilst it was the opposite on the next rink where Alan Jones and his colleagues dropped 8 shots whilst replying with a single to trail 5 14 at the halfway stage.. The next five ends saw role reversal with Ash only scoring a single whilst losing 7 shots to trail 14 - 15. A five on the 15th end saw Jones's rink only trailing by 2 shots 13 - 15 at the same stage. The last 6 ends on both rinks saw the lead change hands on a few occasions with Ash's rink gaining a single on the last to record a 20 - 19 win and gain a valuable point in the process. Playing the last end 4 shots behind it looked like an unlikely win might be gained until Marc Rivoira drew 3rd bowl whilst 5 down, in gallant effort to remove the offending bowl Jones's moved the jack to drop one and lose 18 - 23
Another good solid team performance and confidence can be taken into the next game against Palmerston in 3 weeks times.
